Step into a realm where the untamed beauty of nature meets the rare and extraordinary. A Samburu Safari takes you on an adventure through rugged landscapes that stand apart from the ordinary. Here, the dry, arid terrain conceals the most remarkable treasures.
Beyond the familiar Big Five, Samburu introduces you to its own special collection – the “Samburu Special Five.” The Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx roam these lands, captivating those fortunate enough to witness them.
On the 1 st day of your safari, you will be picked up from your hotel and drive towards the northern part of Kenya through the equator. You will have a stopover for great views of Mount Kenya and for photography .You will arrive for lunch at the Samburu Sentrim/Samburu Sopa. Samburu National Reserve is made of woodlands and stretches of palm trees. After lunch, you will set out for an afternoon game drive.
The Ewaso Nyiro River crosses in the reserve. It provides water for the animals. There are many
permanent springs in the reserve. Wildlife found in this reserve includes the leopards, elephants, lions, reticulated giraffes, grevy’s zebras. Crocodiles and hippos can be spotted by the river. Samburu national reserve is a willed and rugged reserve known for its large herds of elephants and a good number of animals not usually found in the southern parks e.g. the Somali ostritch.
After breakfast, you will depart for the Lake Nakuru National Park which is often referred to as the pink lake due to its large masses of flamingos- the greater and lesser flamingos among other water birds. The park has unique vegetation with different plant species including the euphorbia trees and the yellow barked acacias. After lunch and checking in, an afternoon game drive will give you the chance to be able to spot animals such as the lions, rhinos, Rothschild giraffes, baboons, waterbucks among other many game species. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge/camp.
On this day, you will enjoy your breakfast and head south for Masai Mara National Reserve. The reserve has open savannahs and woodlands, acacia dotted plains and tree lined riverine. Arrival will be in time for lunch. With an afternoon game drive, you will get introduced into this vast reserve. Here you will be able to spot a family of giraffes in a distance feeding on tree leaves, or a pride of lions resting on rocks after feeding on their prey or a herd of elephants going their way.
The day will be spent in search of animals wandering in the plains. The ecosystem here supports a great number of mammals and birds. There are large herds of wildebeests and zebras seen in the grasslands. A picnic lunch will be served by the mara river where you will be able to spot the hippos and crocodiles in and by the river. In the afternoon, you can visit the Masai villages at an extra cost or enjoy an
afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight as mentioned above.
You will enjoy an early morning game drive before departing for Lake Naivasha. Lake Naivasha is a fresh water lake. Home to hippos which can be seen relaxing and buffalos grazing by the shores. Naivasha means rough waters because of sudden storms which can arise in the lake Arrive in the afternoon. Have your lunch and ample time to relax or an optional boat ride to the crescent island.
After breakfast, you will depart for Nairobi. You will be dropped off at your hotel or at the airport for your outbound flight back home by our driver guide.
