On the floor of the Great Rift Valley, surrounded by wooded and bushy grassland, lies the beautiful Lake Nakuru National Park. Visitors can enjoy the wide ecological diversity and varied habitats that range from Lake Nakuru itself to the surrounding escarpment and picturesque ridges. Lake Nakuru National Park is ideal for bird watching, hiking,picnic and game drives.
Rising from the floor of the Great Rift Valley like a monolith is the extinct volcano of Mount Longonot. A unique feature is the thick forest that lies within the crater of the mountain. The crater rim also provides great scenic views across the beautiful Rift Valley all the way to Lake Naivasha. Major wildlife attractions at Mount Longonot include buffaloes, elands, lion, leopard, bushbucks, common zebra, giraffe, and Grant’s gazelles.
Our driver will pick you up and drive south of Kenya. You will have a stopover at the Great Rift Valley
view point where you will have at the most eye catching view of the escarpments. You will be able to
see Mt Longonot from the view point. This will be your first encounter with nature. Arrive for lunch at
Zebra Plains Mara camp. After lunch, you will set out for an afternoon game dive where you will get to
spot wildlife and see them up-close as you take photography.
This day is scheduled for a morning and afternoon game drive as you explore this unique reserve which is an extension of the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. It is renowned for its large numbers of game plains .You will have a high chance of spotting the big 5 animals. The lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalos and the leopards. Lunch will be served under a tree at a selected spot as you look out to the vast landscape. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.
You will depart Mara for Lake Nakuru arriving for lunch. Enroute your lodge, you will enjoy a game drive. Lake Nakuru is an alkaline lake on the rift valley. Referred to as the pink lake due to the large population of flamingos this has gradually reduced. The park is known for a prolific birdlife and a considerable number of animals.
Lake Naivasha lies in the Great Rift Valley and is surrounded by a swamp. You will have a chance to enjoy a boat ride to the Crescent Island where you will see large numbers of animals roaming around. You can follow the walking trails in search of animals such as the buffalos, waterbucks, gazelles and giraffes.
The 5th day marks the end of your safari with us. You will enjoy your breakfast and then load your luggage into the van. Depart for Nairobi arriving in the early afternoon.
